Snow Filled Fun on a Snowless Day in Charleston, SC

I have been wanting to blog for a while now, but hadn't been inspired until today. Sometimes it takes a special moment for inspiration to come to you, today was that day!

Let The Snowball Fight Begin

I woke up early with my kids, I have 2 if you don't know that, my son Kerrick will be 4 in 4 days and my daughter Krisalyn just turned 2 in September. It's chaos at its best, but it's our life, and we wouldn't have it any other way. My husband left for an early morning shoot on Kiawah Island, so it was just me and the kids. We did our regular routine, nothing too exciting, until I looked on Facebook to see that the small town I am from in NY, the schools had a snow day.  I called my son over to see the photos all my friends had taken and told him Grandma and Grandpa had snow. He said "tell them to send it here." Oh how I wish I could! I miss snow (sometimes) and always on the first snow day! My son has seen snow once when it snowed 5 inches here in Charleston, SC 2 years ago. It was gone by 10 am, but we got up really early to sled down the biggest hill we could find here in the low country. It's kind of hard to find a hill worth sliding down when you live in the low country, but we did. My daughter was bundled up in the stroller at 5 months, and slept through the whole thing! So she has never seen snow.

As I was looking through the pictures the kids went in their room and came out with 2 small stuffed animals, a snowman and a dog. I instantly thought of some small and medium sized white pom poms I had in my crafting box, and decided to grab them for the stuffed animals to have a snowball fight with! The kids were so excited! The animals didn't throw the snowballs for very long as it soon became an all out snowball war in our living room.  The kids were throwing them at me and I was throwing snowballs back at them.  It amazed me how much those things fly! We were all laughing so hard, the kids weren't watching TV, they were running all over and I even think my son was sweating while playing! From this I realized my daughter liked to grab a ton of snowballs in her hands and throw them all at once at me, while my son would grab a lot in his hands, but throw them one at a time.  I guess he is going to be my cautious one taking one step at a time, while she will be the all in girl! Lord help me there!

It's amazing how something as simple as a few white pom poms could bring us a little snow filled fun on a snowless day here in Charleston. As I write this now my son is throwing "snowballs" at me I guess I better go get my game on. Happy Snow Day! Thanks for reading my blog!
